Responding to COVID-19

Mahatma Gadhi University’s Inter University Centre for Biomedical Research and Super Specialty Hospital (IUCBR&SSH) is working with the government to effectively respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.  The IUCBR&SSH has dedicated its human resources and scientific infrastructure to analyse COVID-19 samples. The IUCBR&SSH currently completed more than 250000 testing using qRT-PCR for SARSCoV2 infection.  Samples to be tested (nasopharyngea, throat, nose, etc., with a swab) are not taken directly from a person and are taken from designated government hospitals.  Test results are submitted to the concerned district surveillance officer within 24 hours.  It is a completely free service and IUCBR&SSH will not charge any tests.

The IUCBR&SSH conducts extensive basic, applied and clinical research on a variety of diseases and therapeutic areas, including a variety of infectious diseases, woman and child health, paediatric neuroscience, developmental disabilities, geriatric disorders such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s diseases, endocrine and metabolic diseases, gastroenterology and hepatology, genetics and genomics, nutrition and lifestyle, respiratory disease, stroke, and surgical innovation.  The IUCBR&SSH is located on MG University campus in Thalappady.
