India Needs an Independent Diplomatic Stance – Venu Rajamony

India must adopt an independent diplomatic stance in international disputes amidst a world order filled with challenges, suggested former diplomat Venu Rajamony. He was delivering the K.P.S. Menon Memorial Lecture, organised by the K.P.S. Menon Chair of the School of International Relations and Politics, Mahatma Gandhi University, where he also serves as Chair Professor.

Highlighting the pressing global issues such as wars, terrorism, pandemics, and employment crises brought about by advanced technologies like artificial intelligence, Rajamony underlined the importance of sustainable solutions. He observed that India’s neighbouring countries are facing diverse challenges, while India itself must address critical regional and national concerns. Adopting a developmental approach aligned with the United Nations’ sustainable development model is crucial for ensuring the nation’s future, he stressed.

Vice Chancellor Dr. C.T. Aravindakumar presided over the event. Lirar Pulikkalakath, Coordinator of the K.P.S. Menon Chair, also addressed the gathering.
