Dr.Jayachandran is currently the Professor in charge of Registrar,Mahatma Gandhi University, P.D. Hills, Kottayam since 13-12-23. He has been working as Professor, School of Biosciences, Mahatma Gandhi University since 28-03-2013.He has taken his MSc and PhD in Biotechnology from Cochin University of Science and Technology, Cochin. He has qualified both GATE (94%) and CSIR. He joined as the Lecturer in Biotechnology at School of Biosciences, Mahatma Gandhi University in the year 1998 and is having more than 25 years of teaching and research experience. His field of interest is in Bioprocessand Enzyme Technology. He has published more than 70 publications and more than 50 of them are in reputed, international and peer reviewed journals. He has secured an Indian Patent (Patent Number 392961) in the designing of a Solid-State Bioreactor along with the Kannur University.He has guided 15 students for their PhD programme and seven students are currently engaged in research under his guidance. He has completed several externally funded projects and currently acting as the PI of RUSA major project worth of 3.91 crores.

Prof.Dr.Jayachandran   was holding the charge of Director of College Development Council (DCDC), M.G. University from November 2016 to February 2018 and was also the Member Syndicate from 2018 November -2020 June. He was also the Head of School of Biosciences for three years from August 2018 to August 2021.He has acted as a senate member of both M.G University and Cochin University. He was an academic council member of M.G. University twice in 2018 and 2012.Prof. Jayachandran has been acting as the Honorary Director of Inter University Centre for studies in Science of Music (IUCSSM) from 2015 November onwards and is interested in the science behind the working of the musical instrument, Idaykka.
