The International Conference on Water, themed “From Pollution to Purification,” successfully concluded at Mahatma Gandhi University. The three-day event, inaugurated by Dr. B.S. Madhava Rao, former Director of the National Centre for Free Radical Research, featured insightful discussions and presentations on critical water-related issues.
Vice Chancellor Dr. C.T. Aravindakumar delivered the keynote address, highlighting the significance of innovative solutions for water purification. Renowned speakers, including Prof. Roland Kallenborn (Norway), Dr. Manoj P. Samuel, Executive Director of the Centre for Water Resource Development and Management, and Dr. K.R. Baiju, a Syndicate Member of the University, enriched the event with their expertise.
Jointly organised by the University’s School of Environmental Sciences, Inter-University Instrumentation Centre, International Centre for Polar Studies, and the Society of Environmental Chemistry and Allied Sciences, the conference brought together scientists from 15 countries.
Over 300 participants, including researchers, faculty members, and scholars, deliberated on topics such as water resource pollution, innovative purification technologies, and ongoing research in the field. The event served as a platform for meaningful exchanges, fostering collaboration and advancing knowledge in water science.
