The former Vice Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi University and the Director of the University’s International and Inter University Centre for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, Prof. Sabu Thomas maintained the second position in the 3rd edition of Research.com ranking of the best researchers in the field of Materials Sciences in India.

C.N.R Rao, the eminent scientist at the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, Bangalore, claims the top spot in the latest ranking based on  the researchers’ D-Index. Dr. Rao and Prof. Sabu Thomas, who were ranked first and second respectively in the last year’s list continue to lead the field. The ranking predominantly evaluates the significance of  the individual contributions of scientific researchers.

Among 27,059 scientists in materials science and 166,880 scientists in other domains worldwide, Prof.Sabu Thomas stands out with a citation count of 73,352 and an H index of 126. He has made significant contributions in the fields of polymer science, and nanoscience and nanotechnology and has supervised around 150 PhD students. He also serves as the Chairman of the Trivandrum Engineering Science and Technology (TrEST) Research Park.
