
As Kerala approaches the 75th anniversary of its formation in 2031, the Department of Higher Education is set to organize a one-day state-level seminar titled “Vision 2031-Future Development Goals of the Department of Higher Education” on October 18 at K C Mammen Mappillai Hall, Kottayam.
Dr. R. Bindu, Minister for Higher Education and Social Justice, will present the Vision Document, while Shri V. N. Vasavan, Minister for Co-operation, Ports, and Devaswom, will preside over the inaugural session. Prof. C. T. Aravindakumar, Vice Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi University, will deliver the welcome address. The seminar will conclude with a vote of thanks by Dr. Bismi Gopalakrishnan, Registrar, Mahatma Gandhi University, during the valedictory session. Parellel sessions will be held at BCM College and Baselius College.
The event will bring together academic experts, educators, researchers, students, administrative staff, educationists, and public figures to discuss key issues shaping the future of higher education in the state.
A series of sessions and panel discussions will explore a range of vital topics such as university governance and reforms; the role of technology in future learning, curriculum design, pedagogy, and teacher training. In addition, participants will deliberate on themes like research, innovation, knowledge creation; skill development and vocational education; globalization and the “Study in Kerala” initiative; social engagement and educational values alongwith and quality, accreditation, and infrastructure improvement.
Vision 2031 is a forward-looking initiative designed to redefine Kerala’s academic landscape by promoting excellence, inclusivity, and global competitiveness.
