As part of Gandhi Jayanti, Mahatma Gandhi University organised a campus cleaning drive, “Shramdan,” under the leadership of the National Service Scheme (NSS) units. The cleaning initiative, held on Wednesday (October 7, 2026), was inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) D. Mavoothu. Speaking at the event, he remarked that external cleaning activities are merely symbolic and that internal purification holds greater importance. He also called upon everyone to pay special attention to achieving inner purity in their personal lives and thoughts.

The event was attended by Syndicate Member Ann Sebastian, Registrar Prof. (Dr.) Binu George Varghese, Finance Officer Biju Mathew, University NSS Coordinator Prof. (Dr.) E. N. Sivadasan, NSS Program Officers Dr. Amal P. and Ardra K. S., along with university staff and students.

122 NSS volunteers took part in the cleaning activities.
