As part of the ‘Nirmmalam -MGU – the Green Protocol implementation Programme’ of Mahatma Gandhi University, the MGU Green Lab has unveiled a table calendar showcasing the natural colours and charm of the campus with a special eye on the beauty of its cool and shady walkways.
Vice Chancellor Dr. C.T. Aravindakumar released the calendar, underlining University’s Iove and care for its green treasures.
Since its initiation in February 2021, Nirmalam – MGU has been focusing on responsible bio-waste treatment and efficient management of inorganic wastes from paper to e-waste.The inorganic items are diverted to channels of recycling, while the organic waste undergoes aerobic composting leading to the creation of a bunch of value-added products.
MGU Green Lab actively markets these products, aligning with the University’s agenda for maintaining a flawless waste management mechanism on the campus. Initially relying on a modest level of machinery, the project is planning to upscale the efforts by introducing more machines and the next level of product diversification so as to attain enhanced efficiency in combining waste management , family farming and entrepreneurship.
