MGU extends a heartfelt welcome to the triumphant Women’s Volleyball Team

The Mahatma Gandhi University team, emerging victorious in the prestigious All India Inter-University Women’s Volleyball Championship in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, received an exuberant welcome in Kottayam.
 
Vice Chancellor Dr. C.T Aravindakumar, along with the distinguished members of the Syndicate, temporarily halted a syndicate meeting to personally greet and honour the triumphant team upon their arrival at the Kottayam railway station.
 
As the team disembarked, the atmosphere resonated with applause and cheers, creating a celebratory ambiance. The stars of the day were graciously presented with flowers and sweets. The Vice Chancellor expressed that this outstanding achievement significantly adds to the University’s ongoing fortieth-anniversary celebrations.
 
Syndicate members, including Adv. Job Maichil MLA, Adv. Reggie Zachariah, Dr. A. Jose, Dr. Biju Thomas, and Registrar Dr. K. Jayachandran, addressed the gathering. Other attendees included Syndicate members P. Harikrishnan, Dr. B. Kerala Varma, Babu Michael, Dr.S. Shajila Beevi, Dr. Nandakumar Kalarikal, Dr. R. Anita, Dr. Sini Kurian, Amal Abraham, College Development Council Director Dr. P.R Biju, University Security Officer K.M. George, and Administrative Officer of the School of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, N.K. Nejitha.
 
This marks the University’s 22nd triumph in the All India Inter-University Women’s Volleyball Championship. In the final match, the team, led by Nivedita Jayan of Pala Alphonsa College, clinched victory by defeating Adams University of Bengal in three sets. Notably, MGU’s previous title was secured in 2017, making this achievement all the more commendable.
