Mahatma Gandhi University’s athletes ended the year 2024 on a high note, securing two prestigious titles and finishing as runners-up in another championship during the final week of December.The university emerged victorious in both the All-India Inter-University Women’s 3X3 Basketball Championship, held in Kanjirappally, and the South Zone Inter-University Men’s Football Championship, which took place in Tenhipalam. Additionally, MG University claimed second place in the South Zone Inter-University Women’s Basketball Championship in Changnashery, earning qualification for the All-India Championship.
In the final of the All-India Inter-University Women’s 3X3 Basketball Championship, MG defeated Chennai’s SRM Institute of Science & Technology with a dominant 21-3 scoreline. In the South Zone Inter-University Football Championship, MG triumphed over the host team, Calicut University, with a 4-2 victory. Goals from Arun Lal, Akshay, Harishankar, and Akshay Antony contributed to MGU’s success.
MG University secured second place in the South Zone Inter-University Women’s Basketball Championship after winning two matches in the semifinal league. Vice Chancellor Dr. C.T. Aravindakumar applauded the teams for their outstanding performance and remarkable achievements.
