Mahatma Gandhi University Wins State NSS Award for 2023–24

Mahatma Gandhi University has been honored with the prestigious State NSS Award for Best University for the academic year 2023–24. The university achieved this recognition under the leadership of Dr. E.N. Sivadasan, Programme Coordinator of the MG University NSS Unit.
 
 
The university’s affiliated colleges also earned individual distinctions. Simi Mol Sebastian of Alphonsa College, Pala, received the award for Best Programme Coordinator, while Catherine Paul of Morning Star Home Science College, Angamaly, was recognized as the Best Volunteer.
 
 
Currently, MG University oversees 282 NSS units across 183 colleges, with the active participation of 28,200 volunteers . As part of the “Sneha Veedu” housing initiative, NSS units under the university have completed 329 houses to date. Additionally, volunteers have protected and maintained 346 drinking water sources and around 53 biodiversity parks.
 
 
Dr. E.N. Sivadasan, former Principal of Sree Narayana College, Alathur, has previously served as a faculty member at Mahatma Gandhi University, St. Thomas College, Kozhencherry, and Sree Narayana College, Cherthala.
 
 
The recognition highlights MG University’s continued commitment to social responsibility, community development, and student volunteer engagement through its National Service Scheme initiatives.
