Higher Education sector is of top priority for this Government-Minister Dr.R.Bindu

To make Kerala a global hub for higher education by the year 2031 is our aim ,said the vision document presented by the Minister for Higher Education and Social Justice, Dr.R.Bindu at the seminar titled “Vision 2031 – Future Development Goals of the Department of Higher Education” in Kottayam.
Presenting the document at K C Mammen Mappillai Hall, the Minister said that higher education is one of the priority sectors for this Government.
By 2031 ,knowledge based innovation and incubation centres can be set up in higher education instistitutions in Kerala thereby transforming Kerala into a global innovation centre, the document added.
Minister for Co-operation ,Ports and Devaswom Shri V.N.Vasavan, presided over the inaugural session. The Minister complemented Mahatma Gandhi University for its performance in Times Higher Education rankings .
Prof.C.T.Aravindakumar, Vice Chancellor ,welcomed the gathering at the inaugural session. He said that across the world, higher education is at a crossroads due to technological advancements.
Dr. Sharmila Mary Joseph, Principal Secretary, Department of Higher Education, presented a report about the achievements during the last nine years.
Later, the plenary session was chaired by Prof.Rajan Gurukkal, vice chairperson, Kerala State Higher Education Council. Prof.N.V.Varghese,Prof.Gangan Prathap,Prof.Saji Gopinath, Prof.Shyam B.Menon were the speakers.
Parallel sessions on eight topics were held at Baselius College and B C M College .
Panel summary was presented in the afternoon session by the respective chairmen. Prof.Rajan Varghese , was the moderator.
During the valedictory session ,Dr.R.Bindu, Minister for Higher Education and Social Justice, made the concluding remarks .
Prof.Bismi Gopalakrishnan extended the vote of thanks.
