Mahatma Gandhi University’s School of Letters has launched “Karika,” a four-day folklore festival in association with Mumbai Keli, as part of V.C Harris Vaijnanika Sadas. The festival promises to be an extravaganza featuring international seminars, memorial lectures, face-to-face interactions with artists, exhibitions, art dinners, and film screenings.
Sajaneev Ithithanam introduced the rhythms of Mayilpeelithookkam and Padayani through a mesmerising Thaalappoli programme. Students enthusiastically joined in,moving to the beat. The event was inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor, Dr. C.T.Aravindakumar.
Programme Coordinator Dr. Aju.k.Narayanan presided. Keli Ramachandran delivered a thought-provoking speech, setting the tone for the fest. Dr.K.M Seethi, Director of the Inter University Centre for Social Science Research delivered the V.C Harris Memorial Lecture.
Musician Sreevalsan J Menon’s soulful rendition of Carnatic music and folk lore music left the audience spellbound. The fest comes to a close on the 25th.
