The 9th Special Convocation of Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala will be held on May 25, 2026, at 9.30 a.m. at the University Assembly Hall. At the convocation, honorary doctorates will be conferred on actor Mammootty, Nagaswaram maestro Thiruvizha Jayashankar and vascular surgeon Dr. N. Radhakrishnan in recognition of their outstanding contributions in their respective fields.
Mammootty and Thiruvizha Jayashankar will receive the Doctor of Letters (D.Litt.), while Dr. N. Radhakrishnan will be conferred the Doctor of Science (D.Sc.).
The honorary degrees will be conferred by the Chancellor of the University, Shri Rajendra Viswanath Arlekar, in the presence of Pro-Chancellor Shri Roji M. John and other dignitaries.
The special convocation is being organised to honour distinguished personalities whose contributions have made a lasting impact in cinema, classical music and healthcare.
