Prof. Dr. Sabu Thomas, a distinguished academic leader and former Vice Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi University, has been awarded the  prestigious 2023 Vice-Chancellor’s Distinguished Award for Global Excellence and Stature 4.0 by the University of Johannesburg (UJ). Vice Chancellor Letlhokwa George Mpedi presented the award at a ceremony held at the University of Johannesburg.  Prof. Sabu Thomas was chosen for the award in recognition of  his significant contributions to polymer science and nanotechnology. The event drew an audience of distinguished scholars, researchers, and academics who gathered to celebrate his remarkable achievements. 

 

During the ceremony, Prof. Thomas delivered an inaugural lecture that underscored his profound expertise and innovative work in his field. His recognition and new role open up new opportunities for UJ to engage with a wider network of scholars and researchers . Currently, he serves as the Director of the International and Inter University Centre for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology at Mahatma Gandhi University.
