Minister for Industries and Law ,P. Rajeev emphasised the importance of the younger generation to gain a deeper understanding of the Constitution and history, especially in an era where democracy faces various threats. He was speaking at the inauguration of the Dakshayani Velayudhan Digital Archive, organised by the School of Indian Legal Thought, Mahatma Gandhi University.
“The Indian Constitution’s vitality lies in its implementation. For the nation’s and its people’s future, a proper awareness of history and knowledge of the Constitution is essential. Deviating from the path of secularism can endanger constitutional values and democracy. Vigilance is crucial to counter such tendencies,” the Minister stated.
Highlighting Dakshayani Velayudhan as the only Dalit woman and the youngest member of the Constituent Assembly, he noted that the digital archive is a significant step in bringing her legacy closer to the new generation.
Vice Chancellor Dr. C.T. Aravindakumar presided over the function. Syndicate Member Adv. Reji Zachariah, Registrar Bismi Gopalakrishnan, and Archives Coordinator Dr. P.M. Arathi also spoke at the event.
