MGU to host International Conference on Post-colonial Voices

The School of Letters, Mahatma Gandhi University is organising a two-day bilingual international conference on (Un)dying Colonialism: Deferring Centres and Dissenting (Post)colonial Voices as part of the V. C. Harris Vaijnanika Sadas on October 14 and 15. The event seeks to bring together scholars, researchers, and students from across the globe to engage in critical discussions on colonialism, postcolonialism, and decolonial thought.
 
The organisers have invited abstracts of scholarly papers to be presented at the conference. Papers may engage with themes such as Postcolonialism and Neo-imperialism in the 21st century, Globalisation, Capitalism, and Cultural Resistance,Migration, Diaspora, and Transnational Identities, Postcolonial Ecologies and Environmental Humanities, Caste, Race, Gender, and Intersectionality, Indigenous Epistemologies and Decolonial Practices, Memory, Trauma, and Postcolonial Narratives, Postcolonialism in Literature, Cinema, and Media, Digital Humanities, Health Humanities, and the Postcolonial Imagination, Pedagogical Challenges in Teaching Postcolonial Studies. Submissions on other equally relevant topics will also be considered.
 
Abstracts written in English or Malayalam (250–300 words) must be emailed to decolonialconference2025@gmail.com by 12 a.m. on September 25, 2025. Selected participants will be notified by September 29, and registration should be completed on or before October 6, 2025.
 
For presenters from outside Kerala, online facilities will be made available if required. Registration fees are fixed at ₹1500 for teachers presenting papers, ₹700 for research scholars, ₹300 for students, and ₹250 for participants seeking certificates. The conference seeks to foreground critical voices that challenge colonial legacies while opening up new spaces for dissenting perspectives.
