In the 15th edition of the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, which evaluated 1,745 educational institutions from 105 countries based on their sustainability performance, Mahatma Gandhi University secured the 420th position globally, 17th position in India, and the first position in Kerala.

The rankings are designed to present the outcomes of an online survey that evaluates the current conditions and policies related to sustainability initiatives and institutional development in universities worldwide. By engaging university leaders and stakeholders, the initiative seeks to direct greater attention towards issues such as global climate change, clean energy, water conservation, waste management and recycling, green mobility, and the advancement of sustainability-focused education and research.

This year, a new theme has been introduced: “Advancing Sustainable Development Goals in Higher Education: Stories from Our Institutions and Communities.” The organizers aim to further expand global participation, strengthening the shared commitment of universities toward creating sustainable campuses for the future.
