Thiruvananthapuram based Central Tuber Crops Research Institute (CTCRI) and Mahatma Gandhi (MG) University, Kottayam has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at a function in MG University. Possible areas of collaboration include various fields of biosciences including biotechnology, biochemistry, microbiology, climate change, nanotechnology, smart farming as well as processing and value addition. Prof. Sabu Thomas, Vice Chancellor, MG University and Dr. G. Byju, Director, CTCRI signed the MoU.
This bilateral relation between a University and a national research institute will help transforming agricultural sector by solving many issues of the society at large, said Prof. Sabu Thomas. By this CTCRI will act as a center of research for PhD students of the university as well as bring national and international projects to solve pressing issues, said Dr. G. Byju.
