CMS College ,Kottayam has achieved significant recognition in the National Service Scheme (NSS), with its unit securing the prestigious ever rolling trophy for the Best Unit Award from Mahatma Gandhi University for the academic year 2022-23. The college’s commitment to NSS activities has been further acknowledged with individual accolades.
Dr. Varghese C. Joshua, the principal of CMS College, has been honoured as the Best NSS Friendly Principal, while Dr. C.R. Ajeesh, also from CMS College, has been recognised as the Best Programme Officer. Additionally, Sreejith Reji and S. Samyuktha, both from the same College, have been lauded as the Best Volunteers.
A committee led by the Vice Chancellor, Dr. C.T. Aravindakumar meticulously selected the awardees. St. Kuriakose College of Management and Science, Kuruppampady, Ernakulam, has been acknowledged as the Best Emerging Unit, with Father Eldhose K. Joy earning the title of the Best Programme Officer in this category.
The commendations extend to 10 other colleges and their programme officers have been recognised for their outstanding performance throughout the year. Additionally, 11 colleges and programme officers have been selected for citation.
Noteworthy are 13 volunteers from various colleges who will be honoured with citations for their exceptional contributions. The NSS at Mahatma Gandhi University comprises 282 units across 199 affiliated colleges, boasting 282 programme officers and an impressive 28,200 volunteers.
The award distribution ceremony is scheduled to take place during the annual get-together of the University NSS in February at the University campus, as announced by Dr. N. Shivadasan, the Programme Coordinator.
