Benjamin Bailey Chair Inaugurated at Mahatma Gandhi University

The Benjamin Bailey Chair at Mahatma Gandhi University was inaugurated by Malayala Manorama Editorial Director Jose Panachippuram.

The inaugural ceremony, held at the Educational Theatre of CMS College, was presided over by the Vice-Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi University, Prof. (Dr.) C. T. Aravindakumar.

Prof. M. V. Narayanan, former Vice-Chancellor of Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, delivered the keynote address on “Theoretical Frameworks and Translation: Challenges Faced by Malayalis.” He remarked that Benjamin Bailey’s contributions have enriched many domains beyond the sphere of knowledge.

As part of the event, the document paper of the Awareness Programme on the Cultural Contributions of Benjamin Bailey, jointly organised by the Benjamin Bailey Chair and the PG Department of History, CMS College, was released.

Prof. Dr. Babu Cherian, Chair Professor of the Benjamin Bailey Chair; Dr. Anju Soshan George, Principal, CMS College; Dr. Rohit P., Coordinator of the Chair; and Dr. Vijo Thomas Kurian, Joint Coordinator, addressed the gathering.
