Mahatma Gandhi University is organising a Colloquium on “The Status of Freedom of Religion in India,” hosted by the Inter University Centre for Social Science Research and Extension (IUCSSRE) and the Mar Chrysostom Chair at MGU. The event, organised in collaboration with the Mumbai-based Centre for Study of Society and Secularism (CSSS), will be held on Tuesday, 1st October 2014 ,at the conference hall of Convergence Academia Complex, MGU campus. The programme will be inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor Dr. C.T Aravindakumar.
The colloquium is based on the CSSS report, now published as a book by Irfan Engineer, Director, CSSS, which examines the status of freedom of religion or belief in India.The colloquium’s keynote address will be delivered by Sri M.A. Baby, Former Minister for Education.The discussion will feature a distinguished panel, including Dr. Valson Thambu, former member of the National Minorities Commission, and Sri R. Rajagopal, Editor-at-Large of The Telegraph. Sri Irfan Engineer will chair the session.
