MGU has been ranked 154th among Asian universities by Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings 2021. The Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings 2021 use the same 13 performance indicators as the THE World University Rankings, but they are recalibrated to reflect the attributes of Asia’s institutions. The universities are judged across all their core missions – teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook – to provide the most comprehensive and balanced comparisons available. The 2021 ranking includes 551 universities from 30 territories.
The MGU was rated for the first time in the 200 best universities in Asia by the THE. As a state university, this is an outstanding achievement of the university while considering that its ranking is higher than central universities such as Banaras Hindu University (Rank 172), Jamia Millia Islamia University (Rank 180) and Jawaharlal Nehru University (Rank 187). The position of MGU is also ranked above the other two state-owned universities included in the list – Savitribai Phule Pune University (Rank 169) and Punjab University (Rank 175). A total of 18 institutions across India is among the top 200 universities on the continent. Earlier this year, THE also ranked MGU in the 601-800 band for their 2021 World University Rankings and 401–600th in Impact Rankings 2021. For more details on the ranking process, click here.
