
The K.R. Narayanan Chair for Human Rights and Social Justice at Mahatma Gandhi University is set to host a two-day lecture series titled ‘Epistemology of Writing’ on the 29th and 30th of January, 2025. The sessions will be held at the Seminar Hall of the School of Social Sciences, MGU.The event will feature renowned academics Prof. P. Sanal Mohan and Prof. A.K. Ramakrishnan, who will deliver thought-provoking lectures on critical aspects of writing in the social sciences.
The first session, ‘Writing Social Science’, will explore the structured and precise nature of academic writing in social sciences. Emphasis will be placed on clarity, logical coherence, and accessibility to the academic community, with a focus on analytical rigor and objectivity to ensure reliable contributions to knowledge.
The second session, ‘Crafting Subaltern Lives,” will examine postcolonial theories and their role in challenging dominant epistemologies, critiquing colonial narratives, and reclaiming marginalised voices. This session will also highlight how postcolonial perspectives amplify subaltern experiences and inform the writing of subaltern and Dalit histories, ultimately contributing to the decolonisation of knowledge.
