The School of Tourism at Mahatma Gandhi University has launched the “Kerala’s Young Tourism Leaders Programme” in collaboration with the Kottayam District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC), which is chaired by the district collector, Kottayam. The programme encourages and involves youngsters from all around Kerala in taking on leadership positions to promote tourism in Kerala, with the goal of promoting safe and accident-free student group travel and managing tourism clubs at their institutions.
Registration for the Young Tourism Leaders Program’s second batch has begun. The second round will begin on May 18. The goal is to enable students to actively participate in the state’s tourism development activities. Training is provided through workshops and destination visits that will assist them in understanding the challenges faced by the tourism sector and becoming proactive in preparing Kerala as a unique tourism destination for the world.
The Youth participating in the program will get the necessary training to prevent hidden dangers in the tourism sector and will be able to take timely interventions to prevent them. A destination visit is part of the program which will practically train them. Apart from this, discussions and workshops on hospitality management, global tourism trends, tour operation, use of social media in the tourism sector, and destination innovation is included to make the program more productive.
