International conference- Prioritising solutions for water resource conservation

An international conference on water purification and water resource protection held at Mahatma Gandhi University suggested that researchers should give priority to studies aimed at new ideas and technologies useful for sustainable water resource conservation. Experts who participated in the conference pointed out that as the world grapples with the mounting environmental challenges, sustainable water management is now more critical than ever before.

The conference was inaugurated by Prof. C.T. Aravindakumar, Vice Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi University. The workshop was jointly organised by the University’s International and Inter University Centre  for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (IIUCNN), School of Energy Materials, Lund University, Sweden, and National Research Centre, Egypt.

The conference showcased research from various scientific fields focused on developing membranes for water purification.It featured notable speakers, including Prof. Frank Lipnizky from Lund University, Sweden, Prof.Marwa Shalabi from Egypt, and Prof. Sabu Thomas, Director of IIUCNN. They delivered lectures on their respective research fields. Participants from various countries, both in-person and online, discussed the water purification challenges in their regions.

Organising Secretary, Dr. Hanna J. Maria and Dr. Rehana P. Ummer also addressed the audience.The conference highlighted the critical need and challenges in water purification, and the key issues that need to be addressed by the scientific community.It also   inspired researchers to work towards global betterment through innovative research and contributions to overall development.
