Mahatma Gandhi University published the first semester results of its four-year honours degree programmes on the third day after the exams concluded. Theory exams ended on December 16, 2024, followed by practical exams on December 18, with results announced on December 21. M.G. University is the first in the state to publish results for four-year programmes under the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) framework.
The results were compiled using student evaluations and semester-end exam marks, collected via custom software developed by the University’s IT department. A detailed attainment chart will be released soon.
The honours degree programmes were launched on July 1 as part of the state government’s higher education reforms. Syllabi were designed under expert supervision, with specialised assessment methods tailored for each subject in line with OBE principles. Students who selected the same subject as both major and minor undertook foundational learning based on a unified syllabus. Across 234 courses, question papers referenced specific learning outcomes and corresponding teaching levels for each question.
The timetable allocated one day per course to accommodate 17,000 students across 157 colleges under the University. Question papers were generated from university-prepared question banks and delivered securely to colleges using specialised software before the exams. Practical exams followed a standardised format under University’s supervision. Evaluation schemes were published in advance, with teachers assessing students solely from their respective colleges. Vigilance squads, including college faculty and University officials, ensured the transparent and efficient conduct of exams and evaluations.
Vice-Chancellor Dr. C.T. Aravindakumar praised the swift publication of results and commended syndicate members, the registrar, the controller of examinations, sub-committee convenors, college managements, principals, teachers, and staff for their collaborative efforts.
