Mahatma Gandhi University’s School of Letters presents “Karika,” a folk lore festival, in collaboration with Mumbai Keli, as part of VC Harris Vaijnanika Sadas, from October 22-25. This four-day extravaganza promises to be a treasure trove of intellectual and artistic delights, featuring international seminars, memorial lectures, face-to-face interactions with artists, exhibitions, art dinners, and film screenings.
The Vice Chancellor, Dr. C.T Aravindakumar, will inaugurate the function to be held at the School of Letters on the 22nd at 10:30 am. Dr. Saji Mathew, Director of the School of Letters, will preside over the function. Dr. K.M. Seethi, Research Director of the Inter University Centre for Social Science, will deliver the V.C Harris Memorial Lecture.
Renowned experts, including Dr. Sreekarvan, Geeta Wilson, Sajaneev Ithithanam, Prof. S. Karmegham, Dr. N.P. Ashley, Dr. Nisha Mathew, C.S. Venkateswaran, Dr. Hariprasad Athanikal, Dr. P. Pavithran, and Dr. M.B. Manoj, as well as international guests, will deliver lectures on various days. Additionally, researchers and students from diverse universities will present papers.
“Meet the Artist” programme will be held from 23rd to 25th at 6:00 PM, featuring Chavittunataka artists Kuttapanashan, Brito Wilson, and Paulson Gothuruth on the 23rd, renowned calligraphy artist Bhattathiri on the 24th, and eminent artist Ramachandra Pulavar on the 25th. Every night at 7 PM there is a Kala Virunnu. On the 22nd, famous musician Sreevalsan J. Menon’s Carnatic music, on the 23rd Chavittunataka, on the 24th Thayambaka performed by Mattannur Sreeraj and his team and on the 25th Tholpavakooth will be staged.
