Wins Chancellor’s Award 2020 Mahatma Gandhi University shared the 2020 Chancellor’s Prize for Best University in Kerala with Cochin University of Science & Technology. The prestigious prize carries 50 million rupees with a gold-plated trophy. The selection for the award is based on the marks scored by the varsity for its performance in broad components such as academics, teaching and pedagogy methods, student profile and achievements academic governance and other achievements. The university also won the prestigious award in 2015–16 and 2017–18. Furthermore, the University was accredited “A” by NAAC with a score of 3.24 points in 2017, which is the highest among universities in Kerala. It was ranked 30th in National Institution Ranking Framework (NIRF) and included among the top 25 educational institutions in the Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA) -2020, conducted by the Ministry of HRD. MGU was also rated in the bandwidth of 601–800th in Times World University Rankings-2021 and placed 6th in India Today – MDRA Rankings 2019. The Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) ranked the University 13th in India in terms of intellectual productivity and National Institute of Science, Technology and Development Studies (NISTADS) rated 19th in terms of h-index of the science faculty. Department of Science and Technology (DST) also ranked the University 8th among the 29 Universities under the Promotion of University Research and Scientific Excellence (PURSE) programme. Recently, Times Higher Education ranked MGU 141 among the world’s emerging universities.
