Among the Top 2% of Scientists Worldwide

Stanford University in the United States recently released a list that represents the 2% of the most cited scientists in various disciplines. The comprehensive list includes 1,59,683 people with close to 1,500 scientists, physicians and engineers in India.  The list includes the name of Professor Sabu Thomas, the Vice-Chancellor of the MGU.  All in the list were selected based on an international assessment of their research papers.  Professor Thomas is ranked second in the field of polymer science in India and 114 among the best scientists in the world according to this ranking.

Prof. Thomas has over 57,000 citations with an H index of 110 in January 2021. He has published over 1,200 peer-reviewed research articles, journals and book chapters. He co-published 150 books and inventor of 15 patents. Prof. Thomas is an outstanding leader with sustained international acclaim for his work in Nanoscience, Polymer Science and Engineering and Green Materials. Prof. Thomas has received more than 30 national and international awards, which include FRSC UK; Distinguished Professorship from Josef Stefan Institute, Slovenia; MRSI medal; CRSI medal;  Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Award for Scientific Excellence in 2016; Mahatma Gandhi University Award for Outstanding Contribution in 2016; Lifetime Achievement Award of the Malaysian Polymer Group; Sukumar Maithy Award Faculty Research Award; Trila – Academician of The Year; and Fellowship of the European Academy of Sciences.  He is listed among the most productive researchers in India and occupies position #5. Prof. Thomas has been conferred Honoris Causa (D. Sc) from the University of South Brittan; Lorient, France; Siberian Federal University, Russia; and University of Lorraine, Nancy, France. He received the Fulbright Senior Fellowship and National Education Leadership Award 2017 for Excellence in Education. Prof. Thomas also won the sixth Mega-Grants competition from Russia. Prof. Thomas has supervised 115 doctoral scholars and his students hold leading academic and industrial positions in India and overseas.
