Alphonsa College chosen as Best NSS Unit

Alphonsa College, Pala, has been selected for the Ever Rolling Trophy for the Best National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of Mahatma Gandhi University for 2023-24. Rev. Dr. Shaji John Punnathanathukunnel and Dr. Simimol Sebastian from the same college will receive awards as the Best NSS-Friendly Principal and the Best Programme Officer, respectively. The awardees were selected by a committee chaired by Vice Chancellor Dr. C.T. Aravindakumar.

Newman College, Thodupuzha, secured the second position, with Dr. M.P. Biji from the college being recognised as the Second Best Programme Officer.  The Best Emerging Units awards went to St. Kuriakos College of Management and Science, Kuruppampadi, Ernakulam, and the School of Technology and Applied Sciences, Pathanamthitta.

The NSS at Mahatma Gandhi University comprises 282 units, 282 programme officers and 28,200 volunteers across its 196 affiliated colleges. The NSS Coordinator, Dr. E.N. Sivadasan, announced that the awards will be formally presented at an upcoming NSS meeting.
