VC’s message

It gives me immense pleasure to welcome you to Mahatma Gandhi University. Mahatma Gandhi University’s vision is to transform individuals through quality education that is research-informed and industry-engaged. This vision is underpinned by a commitment to ethical approaches in everything we do ensuring that every student is  respected; nurtured and supported to help them achieve their best. The university’s programs are delivered through our various faculties and are designed to facilitate competency development required in today’s workplace.

I strongly believe Mahatma Gandhi University is marching ahead in the right direction, providing a holistic education to the future generation and playing a positive role in nation building. We reiterate our commitment to provide premium quality education accessible to all and an environment for the growth of over-all personality development leading to generating “Global Professionals”.

The best research outcomes often emerge from the intersection of disciplinary boundaries, and Mahatma Gandhi University has encouraged intellectual and academic collaborations among and between our 23 schools, 10 interdisciplinary Inter School Centres, 8 Inter University Centres and numerous research centres. Our aspiration to be one of the world-class universities in India can be achieved only through a deep and pervasive commitment to research through publications.

With your support, Mahatma Gandhi University has been able to celebrate a considerable number of milestones in its history. We had an impressive showing in the Times Higher Education ranking 2021, by being placed ourselves in the top 600-800 Universities. Many Indian Universities have made it to the Times Higher Education University Rankings 2021, with Mahatma Gandhi University finding its place in the 15^th position amongst Indian institutions. We were able to  attain an impressive 702^nd position globally and we are the only University in the State to find a place in the THE rankings. The Times Higher Education Ranking 2021 demonstrates that even in these challenging times, Mahatma Gandhi University is recognized globally.  

Besides Times Higher Education Ranking, Mahatma Gandhi University was also able to secure 141^st ranking in the Times Emerging Economies Ranking 2021 and 154^th position in Times ranking of Asian Universities. We were  also able to secure 31^st position in NIRF ranking of Universities 2021.

In our niche area, MG University is currently graded ‘A’ with CGPA 3.24 highest in the State in the third cycle of NAAC reaccreditation. We were able to garner the prestigious Chancellor’s Award for the third time in 2020. With this achievement, Mahatma Gandhi University maintains its standing as the best University in the State. Enthused by this achievement, Mahatma Gandhi University continues to maintain its impressive performance.

Besides our niche,  Mahatma Gandhi University is also the leading university in the country in terms of green initiatives and sustainability  and I hope that Mahatma Gandhi University shall maintain this top position in coming  years also.
