Mahatma Gandhi University has been allocated ₹20 crore under the comprehensive financial assistance package of the Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (PM-USHA) scheme aimed at enhancing infrastructure in the higher education sector.
The amount has been granted under the Grant for Strengthening Universities (GSU) category. The PM-USHA scheme implements various projects funded by the central and state governments to foster excellence and equity in higher education, thereby boosting the sector’s overall growth. In the earlier phases of the scheme, RUSA-1 and RUSA-2 (Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan), M.G. University received ₹70 crore.
Vice-Chancellor Dr. C.T. Aravindakumar stated that the allocation under the PM-USHA scheme is a recognition of the university’s excellence in NAAC accreditation, NIRF rankings, and international rankings.
