Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU) has become the first university in the state to implement the University Grants Commission (UGC) directive on the dual-degree programme. This initiative enables students to pursue both regular and online courses simultaneously, offering greater flexibility and enhanced learning opportunities.
The Syndicate meeting endorsed the Academic Council’s decision, allowing students enrolled in regular courses at UGC-approved universities and colleges affiliated with universities in the state to take advantage of this opportunity.
As part of the initiative, regular students will receive a 40% scholarship when enrolling in online undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Differently-abled students pursuing UG and PG programmes will also be considered for additional scholarships. Additionally, Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe students are eligible for a 20% scholarship.
MGU’s Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE) introduced online programmes in January 2022, making it the only university in the state to offer online education. Currently, the university provides courses such as M.Com, MBA, MA English, and B.Com (Hons.).
