A start-up incubated at Mahatma Gandhi University’s Business Innovation and Incubation Centre (BIIC), Vividew Innovations Innovations Private Limited, has earned national recognition in the prestigious AMR Challenge, organised by the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms (C-CAMP).
Selected from nearly 200 entries submitted by researchers and start-ups across the country, Vividew’s innovation is among nine proposals recognised for addressing the growing threat of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) — a major global health concern.
Vividew’s award-winning solution targets the removal of antibiotics and antibiotic-resistant bacteria from hospital wastewater, employing a combination of advanced oxidation, membrane filtration, biological and thermal treatment. The system is described as cost-effective, scalable, and adaptable for use in healthcare settings both within India and internationally.
The research team comprises Nourin Fathima, Rinu Thomas, Muhammed Nujoom, Dileep Mathews Paul, Melbin John, Kiran Kennedy, Renu Kurien, Namitha Merin Thomas, Sally Thomas,Nithin Thoma, A.S. Saranya, and Mariya George, under the mentorship of Dr E.K. Radhakrishnan, Director of BIIC.
The team stated that the recognition affirms the significance of developing home-grown technologies to tackle pressing challenges in the healthcare and environmental sectors.
