International Child Rights Practicum 2025 Commences Tomorrow

The International Child Rights Practicum 2025, hosted by Mahatma Gandhi University, officially begins today, March 19. The event will be inaugurated by Prof. C. T. Aravindakumar, Vice-Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi University, at 10 AM at Casa Maria Centre, Peroor.
 
This international initiative, designed to enhance awareness and advocacy for child rights, will run until March 28. The programme will feature participation from renowned experts, policymakers, legal professionals, and volunteers from India and abroad, specialising in child rights, law, and policy development.
 
The inaugural session will feature Dr. Jan Elizabeth De Waters from Clarkson University, New York, as the Guest of Honour. The Keynote Address will be delivered by Rev. Dr. Joshua Mar Ignathios, Bishop of Mavelikara, Malankara Catholic Diocese, while Prof. Asha J. V, Head of the School of Pedagogical Sciences, will preside over the function.
 
Distinguished speakers at the event include Dr. Sibu G Netto, Organising Secretary, ICRP 2025, V. G. Mohan, President, Kanjikuzhi Block Panchayat, Dr. Gireesh K. Pillai, Principal, Mar Ivanios Law College, Chengannur, Prof. Sajna Jaleel, Dr. Muhammed K V,and Dr. Smitha S.
 
The practicum is jointly organised by the School of Pedagogical Sciences, Mahatma Gandhi University, the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Chair for Studies on National Integration, the Child Rights Centre, Mar Ivanios Law College, Chengannur, the Centre for Research in Child Rights and Development, and the Kanjikuzhi Block Panchayat, Alappuzha District.
 
The programme will focus on critical discussions on national and international child rights laws, best practices in child protection, and the role of education in child welfare. Additionally, practical training sessions, expert-led discussions, and field visits will be integral components of the initiative.
