Mahatma Gandhi University Innovation Foundation (MGUIF) has launched the “Big Idea Competition,” offering a unique opportunity for students and faculty members to bring their innovative ideas to life. Supported by the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA 2.0), the competition aims to provide budding entrepreneurs with the resources they need to transform their ideas into viable business ventures.
With an Innovation Grant of up to Rs. 2 lakhs, the Big Idea Competition focuses on providing financial assistance for ideation, design, proof-of-concept development, and prototype creation. The competition offers a comprehensive support package designed to help participants scale their ideas into market-ready products. As part of the grant, selected innovators will receive three years of incubation at MGUIF, alongside opportunities for patent registration, seed funding, investor connections, and expert mentorship.
The competition is open to current students and faculty members of MG University-affiliated colleges. Those who were associated with the university in the last two years are also eligible to participate. However, service-oriented projects and conceptual ideas alone will not be considered, and applicants who have previously received MGUIF grants for other ventures are not eligible.
The timeline for the competition is as follows: Registration and Idea Submission will close on April 23, 2025, with shortlisted candidates announced by May 05, 2025. The Final ‘Idea Day’ and Award Ceremony will be held on a later date.
MGUIF officials emphasise that the Big Idea Competition is more than just an award—it’s a structured initiative aimed at promoting entrepreneurship and nurturing a culture of innovation. Students and faculty with groundbreaking ideas are encouraged to apply and make the most of this valuable opportunity.
