Agreements with French, Malaysian Universities: MG University to Establish International Centre for Asian Modernisation

An International Centre for Asian Modernisation (ICAM) will be established at Mahatma Gandhi University with the aim of conducting in-depth social science studies and research on the transformations occurring in various sectors across Asia. The centre will function in collaboration with Toulouse Jean Jaurès University in France and Taylor’s University in Malaysia.

The initiative was agreed upon during discussions held in Malaysia between MG University Vice-Chancellor Dr. C.T. Aravindakumar and representatives of the partner universities. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be signed during a formal event at MG University on September 24. A two-day symposium on Asian modernisation will also be conducted in connection with the signing, Dr. Aravindakumar stated.

Just like at MG University, ICAM will also begin operations at the partner institutions in France and Malaysia. The centre will prioritise study and research in areas such as socio-economic changes in Asian countries, mobilities and social consequences, family structures, demography, tourism, hospitality management, and food science. Joint conferences and faculty and student exchange programs are also part of the collaboration.
