Dr. K.M. SEETHI is Professor of International Relations and Chairman, Centre for Cross-National Communication in South Asia, School of International Relations and Politics. Specialising in the issues of security, foreign policy, human rights, environment and political theory, he has taught for more than 26 years in the School. He has contributed several articles and reviews in national and international journals such as Millennium, Indian Journal of Politics and International Relations, South Asian Journal of Diplomacy, Economic and Political Weekly, Indian Journal of Political Science, Indian Journal of Secularism, Mainstream, Radical Humanist etc. Besides, he has written several articles in The New Indian Express, The Hindu and web portals. He has also contributed more than 200 articles in Malayalam journals and periodicals. The books of Prof. Seethi include Coastal Security: Needed A New Look (2010 co-edited KPS Menon Chair), Engaging with the World: Critical Reflections on India’s Foreign Policy (Orient Longman 2005) etc.
Prof. Seethi had his MA (Political Science) from the University of Kerala, and secured his PhD from the University of Kerala on the theme “Security Considerations in South Asia: A Case Study with Special Reference to India-Pakistan Relations.” He has presented more than 60 papers in various national and international seminars.
He has served on several academic bodies such as Academic Council, Mahatma Gandhi University, Faculty of Social Sciences, Mahatma Gandhi University etc. Dr. Seethi is Chairman, Board of Studies in Political Science, served as member of the Board of Studies in International Relations and Political Science, Mahatma Gandhi University, Chairman, Board of Studies in Political Science, University of Calicut, Kerala, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Calicut, Resource Person, Academic Staff College, University of Kerala, Academic Staff College, University of Calicut etc.Prof. Seethi served as the Director of the SIRP during 2007-2010 and held many positions. He has been the General Editor of Indian Journal of Politics and International Relations a biannual of the SIRP and currently the Editor of South Asian Journal of Diplomacy, the KPS Menon Chair for Diplomatic Studies.
