Student's Union

The Department of  Student Services acted as a good facilitator for the various activities of the University Union. The activities of the University Union 2008-09 were formally inaugurated  on 23.6.2009.    The   University   Union    under    the    leadership   of 

Sri. Mahesh Chandran (Chairman)  and Kum.Namitha Jathavedan (General Secretary) conducted many student oriented programme during 2009-10.   They are Anti-ragging campaign, Basheer Anusmaranam, Seminar on Emergency and Emancipation Struggle, Eco Cultural camp, Kamala Surayya Anusmaranam, Film Festival, Media camp, Sahithya Camp, Womens Camp, Drama festival and Editors camp.



Mahatma GandhiUniversity participated in the South Zone Inter University Youth Festival 2009-10  held at  University of Mysore from 23 – 27 November 2009.  The University sent a contigent of 38 members for participating in 14 items. The contigent was constituted from among the first prize winners of the University Youth Festival held at Ernakulam in November 2008. In the South Zone Inter University Youth Festival, our team won 2 first prizes 2 second prizes and 2 third prizes.




All IndiaInterUniversity Youth Festival 2009-10 is scheduled to be  held at MaharshiDayanandUniversity, Rohtak, Haryana from 2 - 6 February  2010. The department has constituted the University contingent for the participation in the festival and have may travel arrange for the contingent. 


The Department of Student Services took steps to renew the Group Personal Accident Insurance Policy for all the students of the University for 2009-10.  Insurance benefits are claimed for accident death or injuries of students and all the insurance claims have been processed and forwarded  to the United India Insurance Co. Ltd.  The cheques received against the valid claims have been given to the legal heirs/applicants.

                                                                         GRACE MARKS

The  Director of Student Services is annually issuing the merit certificates to the first, the second and third prize winners of the University Youth Festivals.  This department is also processing all the applications for grace marks of the winners in  the Youth Festivals.  This year also, the department processed all such applications.


Mahatma GandhiUniversity is annually disbursing cash awards to the first and second prize winners of the university youth festival and first, second and third prize winners of South Zone and the National Inter University Youth Festivals.  This year an amount of Rs. 1,70,000/- has been disbursed to the winners.
