On August 3, 2010,\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Mahatma Gandhi\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\">University established the Pala Narayanan Nair Chair in memory of the great author.The presence of Dr.Sukumar Azhikode, the eminent writer, critic, and orator, who\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\">was<\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\">\u00a0nominated as its first Incumbent for a term of two years from the\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\">start of the tenure<\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\">, add<\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\">ed<\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\">\u00a0to the\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\">C<\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\">hair&#8217;s benediction.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">The\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\">most acclaimed work\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\">of\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Pala Narayanan Nair, &#8216;Keralam Valarunnu,&#8217; published in 10 volumes in 1953, earned him the \u2018Mahakavi\u2019 title.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\">His famous works that gained him recognition in the Malayalam literary community include\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\">\u2018Amruthakala\u2019 an anthology of poems , \u2018Shanthi-vaikhari\u2019, \u2018Kasturba\u2019, \u2018Aalippazhom\u2019,\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\">and \u2018<\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Anthyapuja\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">He was the first secretary of Kerala Sahitya Academy and was the recipient of Vallathol Puraskar,Ulloor Award ,Ezhuthachchan Puraskar, Mathrubhoomi Puraskar, first Puthezhan Award,Asan Award,Mooloor Award and Kerala Sahitya Academy Award.
