The School offers programmes leading to M.Sc and Ph.D degrees in Computer Science.
M.Sc.Computer Science :A 4-semester full-time computer science course for graduate students.
The postgraduate programme of the School focus on strengthening the students' knowledge in almost all areas of Computer Science and on exposing them to the issues involved in the development of computer systems.
Ph.D in Computer Science: Post-graduate students can obtain doctorate in computer science through full-time or part-time research.
The Ph.D programme aims at developing skills needed to identify issues related to a practical application and to formulate a theoretical research problem and then develop an effective solution independently
Admission to the M.Sc
Admission to the M.Sc. programme is based on performance of the candidates at three levels viz, the qualifying exam, the entrance exam and the interview.
- Student's with a bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Computer Application and having minimum 55 percent marks are eligible to appear for the entrance exam.
- 50 percent weightage is given to the qualifying exam.
The entrance examination is conducted by the School. The questions are objective in nature and consists of two parts-one based on Computer Science(Degree Level) and the other based on Mental Ability/Logical Reasoning. Marks allotted for each part are equal and there is penalty for each wrong answer. Questions in the first part measure the candidate's knowledge in Computer Science and questions in the second part are intended to measure the candidate's general intelligence, aptitude towards formulating a solution for a descriptive problem, analytical ability, logical reasoning and mental ability.
40 percent weightage is given to entrance exam.
The toppers in the entrance exam are called for an interview.
10 percent weightage is given for the interview.
Admission to PhD
Post graduates in Computer Science with minimum 55 percent marks who have passed the entrance examination conducted by the University are eligible to apply for the Ph.D programme. Eligible candidates with a strong commitment to do research can contact the school's office to register their names for an interview with the doctoral committee. However, candidates having a valid GATE score or a valid JRF of CSIR/UGC are preferred.
The admission procedure is completed by the University in accordance with recommendations of the doctoral committee. Usually applications are called for in June and December of every year
